Does your website communicate clearly?

Have you ever been on a website where you aren’t really sure what the point of the website is? I’m sure we all have. I have seen websites for businesses that after poking around on them, I still wasn’t quite sure what it is that the business did. Clear communication on your website is critical. Since most people on the internet won’t take more than a few seconds to poke around and see what your website is about, you can’t afford to be ambiguous.

I’m sure that you had your website designed for a purpose and that you know what that purpose is. Did you design it with the end result being a purchase, or having a potential client contact you? Most business websites are designed for that purpose. They want to generate leads. So now all you have to do is tell the people that come to your website what to do to achieve your goals. If your website is designed to get somebody to purchase something, clearly state that they can purchase the product you are showing.

Your message is very clearly stated with simple calls to action, which can be placed all over your site. You see this all the time on successful websites. They will simply say “Call now,” for this, or “Click here to buy,” and so on. The point of the site is very clear. The user knows that the site wants them to call, or wants them to buy, or wants them to click. There are probably many times that the user would do all of those things if they had clear instructions to do so.

Clear Call to Action Text

Go to your website. Assume that you know nothing about your business. Take an objective look and think about whether the intended message for this site really shines through. Could it be clearer? Maybe it could. If that’s the case, it needs to be fixed immediately, because having an unclear message is causing you to lose sales. If you’re pretty sure it isn’t clear enough, but you’re not sure how to make it better, it’s time to call in an experienced professional copywriter. The investment is worth it. They will know exactly how to portray your message in the most effective way possible. Why have a website if your website’s message isn’t being heard?
