In this week’s broadcast, we discuss the advantages of hosting your own email marketing software on your own server as opposed to using services such as Constant Contact or Mail Chimp. In many cases, having the emailing system custom built into your website’s CMS will end up saving you money in the long run. It may be a few thousand dollars to develop, but in many cases you will be spending hundreds or possibly thousands a month to use one of those pre made services, in which case, it is cheaper to spend a little bit more up front, and a few months down the line not have to pay anything anymore for that functionality. On top of that, having your emailing system custom built, means that you can have it customized to your exact needs. Say you want to have a newsletter set up to look a specific way, if you go with a program like Mail Chip or Constant Contact, you are stuck within their limitations, while going with a custom system will let you do whatever you want.
