There are many types of videos which you could use on your website and bring added value for your visitors and also increase your search engine ranking.

– Videos from you or your representative: Typically you would want something from the heart explaining why one should chose you compare to your competitors, what sets you apart from others in your industry … Again this type of video has to speak to your target audience and encourage them to take action.

– Videos from satisfied customers: There is nothing more powerful than a client sharing their positive experience with your company. People tend to believe clients’ message more than they would if it came from you or your team.

– Videos from success stories and case studies: These are slightly different from the customers’ testimonials videos. They explain the before and after, the process, the condition and result, … Think of these types of videos as a “hidden” testimonial video.

– Videos explaining products and services: These videos have a very practical use as it gives you the ability to explain the benefit of a product and how to best use it. Product presentations are very popular in shopping carts.

– Videos from vendors: It is always beneficial to have affiliates, vendors or industry peers share their experience of working with you. Buyers want to buy from a company which has a good reputation and is ethical.

– Videos showing your offices or store: If you are a manufacturer, a behind-the-scene video is always popular. People love to know how things are made. This type of videos only work if you have a brick and mortar location which is either impressive or interesting.

– Videos from each department head or company principals: If you have a large company and the principals have their own dedicated bio page on the website, adding a video for each of them will absolutely be powerful. Remember that, in the end, people buy from people.

– Others types of videos:

* Large corporations may have annual public meetings, annual reports, etc … all can benefit from being presented via a video.

* Commercials shown on TV.

As you can see, they are many types of videos. The key is to limit the number of videos to no more than 2 per page. If you place too many videos on a page, they simply use their appeal and visitors will be unlikely to play any of them.

If you are fortunate enough to have a large inventory of quality videos, a video gallery would be fantastic on your website. You can have categories under which you can tag each video. This makes it easier for the website visitor to get to the video that interests him or her the most.

We recommend that videos be stored on YouTube which gives your videos extra exposure. If you need to keep the video private, there are easy-to-change settings in YouTube to make a video public (and “crawlable” by search engines) or private.

From YouTube you or your webmaster can easily embed the video directly onto your web pages. This way you leave it to YouTube to handle all of the compatibility issues with playing videos on different computer types and devices.

Your company may choose to host its own videos. That is fine of course but will cost some additional programming hours and you may need to update the code from time to time as new video players are released.

Again YouTube is your best option.
